“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”– Jeremiah 29:11
Though this verse is told to those in exile, I cannot help but apply it to my own life. If you had told me when I started at Appalachian State University in 2021 that I would one day be the president of a spiritual organization on campus, I would have laughed in your face. I had many negative experiences with the church growing up, and had been removed from the church for many years before joining CBSF App State because of a friend. It has changed my life.
The love of God became real to me in my time at CBSF App State. I have met so many incredible people through this organization, and they have reaffirmed God’s love through their own.
Every day as a social worker, I have been able to show God’s love through my actions. I have gotten to see God’s love work through my own life, putting me on the path I am now. God has given me a hope and a future so much more fulfilling than anything I had ever imagined for myself. I am so grateful for CBSF App State and for Tierney for being there through my journey and showing me God’s incredible love.

CBSF App State campus ministry associate, Tierney Boss, shares in reflection:
We are so incredibly grateful for the care and leadership that Ozzy has invested in our community over the last several years. They’ve done a fantastic job inviting students and young adults that needed a community and have since found one here.
College and young adult life presents all sorts of challenges, many of which are made more manageable with a strong community and the support of the local church. CBSF offers opportunities for students and young adults to connect across the state. We love young people and want to be present with them as they navigate this transient and transformative season of life.
We need your help making those connections! One simple way you can support this work is by using our Student Database. When you share a high school graduate’s email, we can offer invitations and encouragement after high school.
We’d love to begin those conversations this summer so that every young person knows they already have a place of belonging. You can connect your graduates HERE.
