Thanks to more than 100 generous donors, the CBFNC Hunger Fund has been replenished. This year’s Annual Gathering offering campaign, which was dedicated to the Hunger Fund, raised a total of $12,393 — a testament to the collective compassion of our fellowship.
Across North Carolina, more than 1.6 million of our neighbors are living with food insecurity. These are families, children, seniors and individuals who wake each day unsure of where their next meal will come from. Their hunger is not distant. It is present in our communities, our churches and our shared life.
Rooted in our call to embrace our neighbors with the love of Christ, the CBFNC Hunger Fund equips churches and community partners across North Carolina to respond to hunger with compassion and hope. Through grants to churches and organizations providing hunger relief services, this fund puts faith into action.
The Hunger Fund supports services such as:
- Educational opportunities and materials designed to address hunger relief.
- Food production, distribution and consumption efforts, including the cost of materials and equipment.
- Direct purchase of food for hunger relief.

“The theme from Annual Gathering was ‘Free Together,’ reminding us that our life of faith is not something we live alone. It also reminds us that freedom binds us together through our shared calling to care for one another,” said Larry Hovis, CBFNC executive coordinator. “We are so grateful to everyone who joined together to care for those across our state facing food insecurity by making a gift to the CBFNC Hunger Fund.”
The story behind this year’s offering reflects the Hunger Fund’s real-world impact. When a nationwide delay of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits created a crisis for vulnerable families last year, CBFNC was able to provide assistance from the Hunger Fund to support churches that stepped in to meet urgent community needs. That outpouring of ministry depleted the fund, making this year’s Annual Gathering offering all the more meaningful.
Because the Hunger Fund exists solely on donations, your gifts make direct impact possible. Thanks to your generosity, more meals will be shared and more people will be equipped with the tools and knowledge to build sustainable paths forward.
