CBFNC is excited to announce that Rev. Mary Kaylor has been named associate coordinator. This is a new, strategic position for CBFNC and Mary, who has been serving as programs manager.
In this new role, Mary joins the team of coordinators that direct and carry out the mission and ministry of CBFNC. The nature of CBFNC’s mission and ministry is always in flux as we work to meet the needs of partner churches, their clergy and laity. Therefore, Mary will have primary responsibilities in the areas of missions and church resources, as well as secondary responsibilities as needed. Mary’s primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic leadership in the area of missions and connecting CBF Field Personnel and CBFNC partner congregations.
- Serving as staff liaison to all mission focused ministry teams.
- Leading the curating and distributing of church resources for all areas of ministry.
“I am overjoyed about the opportunity this new role will provide me in getting to know even more of our CBFNC churches! Being in the churches, talking with ministers and laity, observing the gifts and passions of each congregation is so exciting to me. It’s also crucial to developing and curating the resources beneficial to our churches and in helping congregations identify and partner with CBF Field Personnel with similar gifts and passions,” said Mary.
She adds, “Our social landscape continues to change which, of course, is changing our congregations. I am excited to be a part of a fellowship and a staff team that understands this and is working to address the needs of our congregations currently. This position will allow creativity and innovation in assessing the landscape of our CBFNC congregations and in finding ways to meet those needs.”
“Since arriving at CBFNC, Mary has proven to be a tremendous asset to our ministry. Her education, ministry experience, giftedness and temperament make her the perfect candidate to transition to this new role on our staff team. Her organizational and communication skills will enable CBFNC to expand the resources we offer to churches in missions, formation ministries, and administration. I’m excited for Mary and CBFNC as we take this step together,” said Larry Hovis, executive coordinator for CBFNC.
Mary joined CBFNC in 2018 and has served in the roles of administration manager and programs manager. Prior to that, she was associate pastor for Children & Missions at First Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Her experience also includes an internship through Student.Go with CBF Field Personnel serving in India.
She earned her Master of Divinity at the McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, GA. Mary received both her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.
A native of North Carolina, Mary loves working with NC Cooperative Baptists who nurtured, encouraged, and ordained her. When she’s not working, Mary enjoys watching movies, reading, junking/antiquing, exploring new places, and playing with her dog, Binx.
