Critical biblical scholarship brings a wealth of resources to the task of understanding the Bible, but it can be difficult to connect scholarship with the devotional approach to Bible reading that most Christians follow. The webinar will demonstrate how critical and devotional approaches can work together in an inclusive way based on the ancient model of the four senses of Scripture.

Dr. Barry Jones is Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Campbell University Divinity School. A native of North Carolina and a graduate of Campbell University, Dr. Barry Jones joined the Divinity School faculty in 2000. He previously taught at Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, NC and before that was pastor of Park View Baptist Church in Durham, NC. He and his wife Beth (CU ’85,’88) live in Raleigh and have two adult children.
