Paul's Sermon: "Compelling Cooperation"
I Corinthians 13:4-13 & Colossians 3:12-17 (in addition to Psalm 133)
Thirty years into the life of Cooperative Baptists, it has become more and more difficult to live into the first word of our name. In more and more places, cooperation is only seen in spaces where full agreement exists. In politics, in denominational life, in individual congregations, differences of opinion, conviction and practice are increasingly a warrant to withdraw cooperation. So what compels us to cooperate? What kind of cooperation is a compelling witness to the power of Christ in a deeply divided world? Are we being called to a more compelling kind of cooperation?
