CBF of North Carolina (CBFNC) is excited to announce that Marc Wyatt is joining our staff as Welcome House Raleigh ministries director. Marc is no stranger to CBFNC and CBF life, having served as CBF field personnel since 1996. He is retiring from his role as CBF field personnel at the end of January and will begin his new role with CBFNC on February 1, 2025.
As Welcome House Raleigh Ministries Director, Marc’s duties will include:
- Management of Welcome House Raleigh staff and properties.
- Mentorship and supervision of interns including CBF Student Serve personnel.
- Missional discipleship through cross cultural training for individuals and local churches.
Marc served with his wife Kim, who remains in her role as CBF field personnel, for 29 years in ministry with immigrants in refugees in Canada and North Carolina. In partnership with CBFNC, they founded Welcome House Raleigh and Welcome Network. As a signature missions ministry of CBFNC, Welcome Network empowers, connects and inspires local congregations to engage in ministries of welcome with vulnerable populations in their communities. Welcome House Raleigh is the oldest and largest expression of the Welcome Network.
“It is such joy to serve alongside churches in the ministry of welcome and hospitality. Every day brings new and inspiring opportunities to share the love of God with our neighbors because all are included in the beautiful mosaic of God’s kingdom,” said Marc.
“I am excited about this shift for Marc and CBFNC. Marc and Kim have been the face of Welcome House for a decade, and Welcome Network wouldn’t exist without their vision, passion and tireless work. This new partnership, with Kim remaining as CBF field personnel, and Marc joining the CBFNC staff, will take our collaboration to the next level,” said Larry Hovis, CBFNC executive coordinator.
Before his call to the mission field, Marc served churches in North Carolina and Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Wingate University and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he was a Raymond Bryan Brown Memorial scholar.

As a trusted ministry partner to local churches, CBFNC is committed to serving Jesus Christ, preserving historic Baptist freedoms and calling out God’s gifts in Christians and churches to engage in ministry in our state and world. About Welcome Network
Welcome Network is a collaborative ministry that provides a tangible expression of every disciple’s call to love the stranger and to invite them into God’s beloved community as neighbor (Matt.25: 35-36). Welcome Network empowers, connects and inspires local congregations to engage in ministries of welcome in their communities. It consists of four components: Welcome Houses, relationships, church spaces and places, and advocacy. Begun in 2015 by CBF Field Personnel Kim and Marc Wyatt, Welcome House Raleigh was the initial ministry that inspired Welcome Network. Recognizing that the model of Welcome House Raleigh could be replicated and expanded across the entire state, CBFNC leaders began to see that God had bigger plans for this ministry. In 2020, the CBFNC Coordinating Council voted to adopt Welcome Network as a signature missions program of CBFNC. The goal of the network is to provide Christian hospitality to vulnerable populations in a variety of circumstances—from refugees to the homeless to victims of abuse and more.
About Welcome House Raleigh
The Welcome House ministry is one component of Welcome Network and it emphasizes temporary housing for vetted refugees in partnership with local resettlement agencies. Begun in 2015 by CBF Field Personnel Kim and Marc Wyatt, the initial Welcome House ministry was established in the Raleigh area as a partnership between CBFNC, local churches and refugee agencies in the Triangle. Welcome House Raleigh (WHR) is a temporary reception housing ministry for refugees and immigrants who do not have a place to live upon arrival to the United States.
