“The God Who Sees. . .”

This year our theme is The God Who Sees, based on Hagar’s story in Genesis 16. Having been treated cruelly by Sarai, Hagar flees to the wilderness. There she meets an angel of the Lord who tells her to return home where she will give birth to a son. In response Hagar speaks the words of our Annual Gathering theme verse, “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me,’” (Genesis 16:13, NIV). The probability is high that, over the past two years, we have all had moments of feeling like Hagar in the wilderness. Longing for someone to say, “I see you and I love you.”

The God Who Sees will be woven into every aspect of our fellowship, whose overarching focus is Engaging Students and Young Adults. CBFNC has emphasized faith formation for people of all ages, especially youth and young adults, those who are most vulnerable to feelings of loneliness and lostness. Our students and young adults, most of all, need to be reassured that God sees them exactly as God created them and loves them. You will see this theme and focus emphasized in our times of worship, fellowship, and workshops. Make your plans to join us at Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, March 17-18, 2022!
